As millions of men and women of the baby boomer generation reach their 40s and 50s, many of them, in fact most of them, are suffering from the loss of hormones.  Some hormones become elevated but most hormone levels decline as one grows older.  This hormonal imbalance leads to the most common diseases of aging, including loss of sleep, decrease in libido, hot flashes, night sweats (in women), bone loss (osteoporosis, in both women and men, increased feelings of depression and anxiety and weight gain. Current research now shows that many of the problems associated with aging are directly related to hormone imbalance.  A solution to this problem can be achieved by the correct diet.  The Hormone Diets will help you achieve optimum health and help you to lose weight.

There are several well known diets currently available at the present time on the internet, in the media and on the books shelves.  Hormone diets are all about achieving weight loss and hormonal balance, increased health and the feeling of wellness.  What they come right down to is healthy, preferably organic eating and supplementing your diet with the supplements that you need as you grow older.

After a certain age, it is next to impossible to lose weight without balancing your hormones.  Much of this is due to the loss of sleep we experience as we age, the high stressed lives we live on a day to day basis, and the fact that our bodies can become insulin resistant.

Following a hormone diet is not enough in itself.  What you are actually looking at if you want to obtain and maintain hormone balance and optimum health is a multifaceted approach.  To restore your health and revitalize yourself, you need to not only follow one of the hormone diets, you need to have a regular exercise program, learn to sleep better again and lose the stress.  However, the hormone diets are the best eating guides around for feeling your best after the age of 35.

Hormone imbalance can even occur as early as one’s mid 30s.  Handling multiple responsibilities, the high stressed lifestyles we live with children and extended work hours will begin to drain the hormones in your body.  This will lead to high cortisol levels, adrenal fatigue, thyroid problems and decreased hormone levels.  It could also lead to estrogen dominance in women which is a dangerous state, health wise, for a woman to be in.

This is the problem in modern day life.  It is highly stressed, the food we eat is too impure and processed and while the quantity of what we own and owe goes up, the quality of our lives is in a constant slow spiral downwards.  Destressing and taking time out for one’s self and eating nutritious wholesome foods is major ways in which to maintain our health longer and live longer.  However, we find that we have less and less free time and men and women suddenly find themselves in their 50s and suffering ill health.

The hormone diets are not only for women.  Hormone diets are for men as well.  Simply put, the hormone diets promote optimal health and promote hormonal health.  These diets all look at the big picture and help you to get your hormones balanced, sleep better, lose fat and feel and look younger longer.

What’s wrong with hormonal imbalance you might be asking.  Well if you are suffering from hormonal imbalance as you read this, you are experiencing night sweats and hot flashes, your weight has zoomed out of control, your libido is about down to zero, you can’t sleep at night or you wake up in the middle of the night and can’t get back to sleep, you feel a lack of energy and feel tired most of the time and you feel moody and sometimes even depressed.  Balancing your hormones is the first step to take to achieve hormone balance, but you must also follow the rules of the hormone diets, eat healthy foods, exercise regularly and make some other lifestyles changes which we will get into in later articles on this site.

Following any of the hormone diets and making those necessary life style changes will help you to age gracefully, combat the diseases of aging such as osteoporosis, diabetes, cancer and heart disease and that “midlife weight gain” which always starts around the waistline in both men and women.

What you will find at the Hormone Diets website is practical advice, and an introduction and discussion about the hormone diets that were created and promoted by doctors and experts such as Suzanne Somers, Dr. John R. Lee, Dr. Natasha Turner, Dr. Michael Roizen, Mehmet Oz.  We will also discuss nutritional supplements you need to be taking, how to regain your lost sleep, exercise programs to assist with hormonal balance and nutrition plans.  But remember, before beginning any diet or exercise program, check with your doctor first.  Discuss with him or her what exactly you should be doing for your individual health situation.

Live better, lose the fat, increase vitality and fight aging with the hormone diets.  Your quality of life will increase with your ever improving health.
