I’ve been frustrated by weight loss & try everything. Some diets leave me feeling weak starting in the afternoon. My thyroid doesnt function either i have fatigue to deal with as well. This African mango sounds promising so I’ll give it a go. If it works the way you said it does I’ll let you know. If it doesn’t I’ll let you know as well.

The huge amounts of vitamins, minerals and natural enzymes, coupled with increased exercise, should give our energy levels a boost.

African Mango Seed Extract (Irvingia) and its influence on the hormone Leptin

Dr Oz, the famed TV show host, cardiac surgeon and best selling author has been in the media lately discussing weight loss. The reason for this is that most likely it’s at the end of the old year and the beginning of the new year when most of us make our New Year’s resolutions to lose weight. Losing weight is a struggle, especially if we find ourselves with menopause or andropause symptoms which come from diminishing hormone levels. It is a known fact that good nutrition and supplementing the food we consume with nutritional supplements will help assist with our overall health and age-related weight gain. Dr. Oz recently stated that we can “Discover the weight loss miracles in your medicine cabinet.”

What we are going to discuss today in this article is Irvingia gabonensis or more commonly known as African Mango Seed extract, a plant from a West Africa. African mango seed extract or Irvingia gabonensis has demonstrated the ability to support leptin sensitivity which will enable faster weight loss. Suzanne Somers also uses Irvingia (African mango seed extract as a part of her weightloss formula in her book, “Suzanne Somers’ Sexy Forever – How to Fight Fat After Forty.” African mango seed extract has been studied and the results are very promising.

Leptin is a hormone secreted by the fat cells (adipocytes) that tells the brain to burn fat to release energy. If you have a high percentage of body fat, leptin levels will also be high in the body. The hormone leptin sends a message to the brain that tells us when we have eaten enough food and if we should continue to eat. If leptin levels are correct, it sends a message to the brain to tell us when our appetites are satiated. It works with the hypothalamus to regulate energy stability and blood sugar metabolism in the body. There is a direct correlation between leptin, insulin and stored body fat.

At the time of menopause or andropause, leptin levels will decline if one experiences problems with sleeping such as falling asleep or waking up too early in the morning. Sleep deprivation will cause leptin imbalance. As a result, we will experience an increase in appetite which results in weight gain. Achieving optimum sleep will assist the body in increasing and balancing leptin levels.

If you have the correct levels of leptin hormone in your body the result is increased energy, a reduction in insulin levels, blood sugar levels, reduced body fat, lower body weight, increased metabolism, and an increase in body temperature.

Recently on his popular TV show, Dr. Oz has called African mango seed extract, the “miracle in your medicine cabinet that will help you lose 10 pounds” and called it one of the “breakthrough fixes for women over forty.” Two studies were presented on the Dr. Oz show which showed that women using Irvingia (African mango seed extract) lost up to 10 pounds in four weeks without making any diet or lifestyle changes.

Other studies of Irvingia such as the study in the medical journal Lipids in Health and Disease showed that Irvingia enhanced the sensitivity of the hormone leptin which we already know to regulate appetite and the metabolism. Irvingia (African mango seed extract) helps leptin sensitivity so the brain is able to understand the messages the hormone sends and regulate metabolism and appetite.

Dr Oz told viewers interested in African mango seed extract that, “Taking 150 mg of this African mango seed extract twice daily has been shown to help decrease weight and waist circumference.” He also advised the audience that an African mango seed extract supplement must contain the extract IGOB131 that was used in the scientific studies mentioned above. Life Extension’s Irvingia supplement called Integra Lean Irvingia is one supplement that does contain IGOB131. You can purchase Life Extension’s Integra Lean Irvingia only $19.86 ($0.33 / count) for one bottle or $35.85 for two from Amazon, the most trusted online store and be eligible for free Super Saver Shipping on orders over $25. I’ve discovered the great benefit of shopping for supplements at Amazon is that you can find any brand you’re looking for at prices cheaper than in the health stores. Shipping is free if you buy over $25 worth of goods and the ease of having the products shipped right to your door is wonderful when we are so busy these days.

The African mango seed extract, Irvingia, also has other properties which are beneficial. Dr. Oz was thrilled by the fact that not only will Irvingia help you to lose weight and reduce your waistline but it will also lower your “bad” cholesterol levels and increase your “good” cholesterol levels. In research participants, taking 350 mg of African mango seed extract three times a day demonstrated a 46 per cent reduction in bad cholesterol levels and experienced a 47 per cent increase in good cholesterol levels over the four week study.

Other supplements Dr. Oz advises you take to keep your metabolism and energy on high while following a weight loss plan should include a good multivitamin and a B complex to be taken each day.  For the correct dosage, check with your doctor.  Read the reviews of African mango seed extract (Irvingia) and try it out for four weeks.  Let me know your results.
